SLICE

Slice is the musical trio of Megan Magiera (guitar, vocals), Barbara Barrera (bass), and Alex Hattick (keys, vocals). Their laidback charm and sound have captivated Long Beach and gained them a dedicated following in the indie alternative scene.

Combining bouncing bass lines, dreamy guitar riffs, and jazzy backbeats, the impressive lineup of musicians each bring something unique to the table. Megan and Alex both draw inspiration from indie rock/pop bands with their flowing riffs, shimmering keys, and rich vocal harmonies. Barrera’s love of post-punk can easily be heard in her melodic bass lines and signature tone, a powerful driving force behind their songs. Slice has effortlessly created their own voice reminiscent of artists such as Cate Le Bon, Grass Widow, and No Vacation. These dynamic instrumentalists bring together their eclectic roots in a sound you can’t quite pin down, but know you love.

Voted “Best Indie Band” of 2018, Slice is described as “channeling the roots of riot grrrl riffs through spacey reverb and hyper-literate lyrics, [they have] a way of making a complex song about existential woe sound like a day at the park” (OC Weekly Music).

Slice has performed extensively in Long Beach and Los Angeles, and toured the West Coast and Southwest. Their highly anticipated third EP will be released on Selenite Records in summer 2024.
